GIF recap: Bruins drop game 2 to Red Wings, 2-1

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Well, this was definitely the second game of a back to back. A bit ridiculous that the first two games of the season are a back to back, but that's neither here nor there. The Bruins got on the scoresheet first, after being outpossessed by the Red Wings for most of the first period - and their sluggish play didn't stop there, as the Red Wings proceeded to score twice in the second period. The third period just looked like more junk.

Patrice Bergeron had the lone goal of the game on the Bruins' first shot of the game:

He was later taken out by - of course - Niklas Kronwall:

But he came back. Other highlights included a ridiculously epic dive by Brad Marchand:

And a Johan Franzen assault on Bergeron:

Aaaand that's about it. The Bruins will return to Boston to face Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.
