When the season ticket renewals came about last year, there was certainly a lot of grumbling about ticket prices going up. Well, Jeremy Jacobs' dream has come true: According to the Team Marketing report on the 2014-15 NHL, The Bruins have the most expensive ticket in America. Only the Toronto Maple Leafs have a more expensive ticket, and if the Bruins keep bumping the price by 20 percent - Not a typo, actually 20 (two-zero) (twenty) percent raise in prices since last year - they'll be on top soon.
The bump in ticket prices, as well as in upticks in concessions (who doesn't love $5.75 hot dogs and $11.50 sam adams?) have put the Bruins in rarified air - they are the only American team with a Fan Cost Index of over 500 dollars. Again, Toronto costs more, but part of the allure of having leafs tickets is to show how rich you are. Hence all the suits in the lower bowl. But we're almost there.
The Bruins were number one in a couple different categories, sure to delight whatever suited spreadsheet jockey is counting the beans in the basement of Delaware North. Let's take a look:
- Ticket Price Increase: 20% (2. Coyotes - 10.8%, 3. Predators - 10.2%, 4. Senators - 9.9%, Blues - 8.5%)
- Parking: $42 (2. Rangers - $30, 3. Canucks - $27, 4. Kings - $25, 5. Blackhawks/Devils - $24)
- Soft Drink $/Oz: $0.41 (2. Islanders, Coyotes, Capitals - $0.31, 5. Lightning - 0.30)
- Fan Cost Index change over last year - 14.8% (2. Hurricanes - 12.4%, 3. Senators - 10.7%, 4. Coyotes - 10.4%, 5. Oilers - 8.9%
Here are all of the categories, all laid out. You've got The Bruins rank in each category, the raw numbers for the Bruins (where can you get an $8.50 beer, anyways?), the difference from NHL average, and the average NHL numbers from each.

Yes, the Bruins charge the second-most money for the second-least amount of soft drinks. What a world.
If you've been to the Gahden this year, what's your most memorable sticker shock from the trip?
