Game Notes:

  • Thanks to the lockout and some cool European travel, the Coyotes haven't been to TD Garden since March 6, 2009. I had to re-check this like eight times to make sure I wasn't making things up, but yes it's true: Last season there were no cross-conference games. The year before, the Bruins played in Phoenix (Seidenberg scored the GWG in OT). The prior year, the Stanley Cup year, the Bruins and Coyotes went head-to-head in Prague. In 2009-2010, the Bruins lost 4-1 to the Coyotes in Phoenix with me in attendance, and the next day they traded Chuck Kobasew. Before that was the last game at the TD Garden - at the end of the 2008-2009 season. OVER FIVE YEARS AGO.
  • Just for fun, let's look at the box score from that game. The Bruins lost 2-1, and it was the first game right after the team had traded for Steve Montador and Mark Recchi. The only Bruins goal read Kobasew (15) from Bergeron (21) and Axelsson (19).
  • Brandon Gormley is up in the NHL now - he was a QMJHL superstar. Andy Miele played for University of Miami Ohio when they lost to BU in 2009 (still more recently than the last Coyotes game at TD!) Oliver Ekman-Larsson is pretty damn good. Martin Erat went to Phoenix at the trade deadline. Mike Smith is puckpants. There is your Coyotes scouting report.
  • The Bruins might bench Dougie for a third game noooooo. Expect Tuukka Rask to get the start tonight.

Remember when Tyler Seguin scored his first three goals in three different countries? #1 was against PHX.
