Bruins 5 Flyers 2: First to 50 ROW, East clinched, back on top of the league

New, comments

Yeahhhh Bruins!

Extra Skater stats

Luckily for the Bruins, this game didn't at all end the way it began. After not registering a shot on goal for over eight minutes at the beginning of the game, they mustered a combined 38 SOG by the end of things. David Krejci and Milan Lucic had goals by the end of the second period, and though the Flyers had managed to tie things up by then as well, the Bruins managed to find new life in the third, keeping the puck mostly in the Flyers' end and racking up three more goals thanks to Johnny Boychuk, Milan Lucic, and Chris Kelly's ENG.

If we made choosing "player of the game" a thing on here, today's player would be Loui Eriksson. He's seized this opportunity to play with Lucic and Krejci, registering three assists today and looking leaps and bounds better than the player he's been the last few months.

Also: congrats to Reilly Smith on his seventh player award. Woo.

THE GOOD

  • Patrice Bergeron extended his point streak to 11 games. BERGERON FOR HART
  • Bruins locked up the Eastern Conference, meaning home ice through at least three rounds of play.
  • THE LENGTHY LOSING STREAK ENDS AT TWO WHOLE GAMES
  • Bruins are the first team to get 50 ROW. Anaheim is the only other team in the league that isn't mathematically eliminated from being able to do this this year.
  • Bruins are only four goals behind Chicago for the "most goals scored" nonexistant trophy and three goals behind LA in the Jennings trophy race.

THE BAD

  • That slow start was questionable, but considering they figured it out pretty quickly - not too bad.

THE UGLY

  • A Jay Rosehill goal? C'mon son.

THE INTERESTING/IRRELEVANT

  • Blues are about to lose. Bruins are two points up in the Presidents' trophy race with four games to go (STL has five left.) GET IT GET IT, B's.

Krejci gets #17:

Lucic hammers one in:

GO JOHNNY GO

either Lucic or Krejci for goal #4! (Officially Lucic, looks like Krejci got the tip though)
