Shawn Thornton, anchor of the fourth line for seven lengthy seasons with the Bruins, will not be returning to the team next year. The Bruins just made the announcement on twitter:
Breaking News: GM Peter Chiarelli informs Shawn Thornton that the Bruins will not be resigning him - http://t.co/j6IDBmJQhk ^CS
— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) June 16, 2014
We'll remember Mr. Thornton dearly for such things as:
- that time he scored on a penalty shot
- that time he facepunched [insert several dozens of players here]
- that time he scored ten goals in a season and the Bruins won the Cup
- his bromance with Tuukka Rask
- that time he barred certain Boston media members from the locker room for reporting falsely on concussions
- The multitude of Things Shawn Thornton has said
I'm sure there are other things as well, leave them in the comments. I for one look forward to seeing him in a Vancouver Canucks uniform.
Hasta luego, Shawn!
