Players we love (and love to hate): Los Angeles Kings

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

Hello. As it's the offseason, we decided a nice fun series would be in order. As we already did "29 teams we hate," we decided to pick 2 players from each team - the one we most appreciate, and the one we most despise. This is the first in the series, and we should have updates often.

The Los Angeles Kings are an extremely good team and organization, being back-to-back full-season Stanley Cup Champions. Here's how we appreciate (and despise) them.

Love: Anze Kopitar

The Slovenian Hockey Zombie is a treat. He's the Patrice Bergeron of the west. Great defensively, great offensively, doesn't munch on reporter's brains in televised interviews. Has single-handedly brought Slovenia into the world hockey stage. All he had to do was leave home for Sweden by himself as a 15-16 year-old, work his way through Swedish junior leagues for a few years, impress the Kings enough to get drafted 11th overall, and make the NHL out of camp. Spending 2 years of high school in a foreign country is totally normal, right? Right.

Hate: Mike Richards

There are still warrants out for the arrest of Mike Richards for his attempted murder of David Krejci in game 3 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals. We didn't know it at the time, as we were too busy celebrating another goal that the pass Krejci had just made had set up. We all know how that series went, and that injury to Krejci is what turned the series. Mike Richards is also known for not being in the way while Adam McQuaid went head-first into the boards once, and he fought Paul Mara way back in 2007. Let's watch:

What a world. Granted, most of the Mike Richards hate is from his time in Philly, we don't forget what a shitstain he was to us while he was there.

Okay, so what's your favorite thing about Anze Kopitar or least favorite thing about Mike Richards' ugly mug?
