Better late than never, the NWHL announced today that all games this season will be live streamed for free on YouTube, which they're calling The Cross-Ice Pass (although the YouTube channel itself is not linked on this page).
The Cross-Ice Pass was first mentioned with the release of season ticket package information, the summary stating that season ticket holders would receive 10% off the price of live streaming. At that time, it seemed like the service would be a paid platform similar to NHL GameCenter, so the news that it will be free for everyone is somewhat surprising. Perhaps season ticket holders will have access to a higher-quality streaming service that will not be subject to ads, thus making up for the lack of revenue gained from making the service free.
For casual fans, or those who are hesitant or unable to pay for a streaming package, this is great news. It also means that there's no excuse not to watch! We expect all of you to be Boston Pride superfans by the end of the season. The puck drops between the Pride and the Buffalo Beauts tomorrow at 3:30.
