NEED TO KNOW:
FIRST PERIOD:
Brett Connolly fights his way to the front of the net and buries his second goal in as many games.
Josh Bailey gets the Tavares rebound and fires it home to tie the game on the powerplay.
Casey Cizikas fights off Spooner and scores off of a redirect through his own legs
SECOND PERIOD:
After the goal, and even during the goal, Matt Martin and Adam McQuaid throw down, throwing bomb after bomb with their right arms.
Off of a deflected Ryan Spooner shot, Joonas Kemppainen gets the redirection and doesn't miss for his first NHL goal.
David Pastrnak gets a puck in his skates, kicks it to himself, and then fires it past Halak for to put the Bruins ahead again.
Matt Martin would board Zdeno Chara, who took exception to the hit and wanted revenge. The Bruins would squander the ensuing powerplay.
THIRD PERIOD:
Ryan Spooner gets in front of the net with the puck and tries to pass back to Kemppainen, but the Islanders defenders shepard the puck into the net, giving the Bruins have a little bit of breathing room.
David Krejci puts home the empty netter, and the game looks sealed up at five to two.
Thomas Hickey fires a rocket from the high slot, pulling the Islanders back within two goals.
And that does it! The Bruins win 5-3, and it was a good night for the Bruins and their affiliates, with the Providence Bruins winning 5-3 as well, and their ECHL affiliate the Atlanta Gladiators winning 4-2.
