The Penguins hope to reverse their luck at home against the Bruins tonight at 7:00PM.

  • Don't expect tonight's game to be a slam dunk for the Bruins, although the star-studded Penguins are still inexplicably struggling to score goals. [PatriotLedger]

  • That secondary scoring the Bruins have been enjoying comes thanks to Ryan Spooner.[TheHockeyWriters]

  • When we left off on Wednesday evening, the Bruins had snuffed the Penguins. Bonus: A bit of history on Mike Sullivan, Zac Rinaldo hit the nail on the head as to why the Bruins are now gelling as a team, and props to Max Talbot for his contribution.[ScoutingPost]

  • Pass the P8ST8! David Pastrnak remained in Boston as the team traveled to Pittsburgh- the impending roster freeze and the World Junior Championship are playing into the Bruins' decision as to how to ready him again for NHL action.[TheBostonGlobe]

  • Hasn't Landon Ferraro been a nice acquisition? His role as a Red Wings fourth liner was great preparation for him to become a versatile contributor in Boston.[WEEI]

  • No word yet on Joonas Kemppainen, and it looks like we won't be seeing him soon.[WEEI]

  • Enjoy some highlights from the EPIX series "Road to the Winter Classic" debut. Frank Vatrano's bright smile is under scrutiny, Patrice Bergeron takes his family for a stroll, and Zdeno Chara is just a regular guy in the North End.[MassLive]

  • National effort, local impact: Charlestown's Bryan McGonagle Street Hockey Rink was renovated thanks to the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Legacy Initiative.[NHL]

  • Jeremy Jacobs was feted as the Lester Patrick Trophy winner last evening. He and his family have been involved with hockey since his birth.[BostonHerald]

Elsewhere around the rink:

  • In NHL goalie news, former Bruin Chad Johnson was lights-out in his 44 save shutout win for the Sabres over the Ducks, notching a franchise record, as Jonathan Bernier continues to struggle...[SportsNet] ...while in other game action last night, the Canucks continue their slide.[TheBostonGlobe]

  • Alexandre Burrows is notorious for crossing the line. Props to him for making a belated apology to Patrick O'Sullivan for one particularly sadistic chirp.[TSN]

  • Need a last-minute gift? How about a fine timepiece with Wayne Gretzky's logo on it?[BarDown]

  • Social media and its consumption continues to be a hot topic around the NHL. "Prosumers" are shaping the fan experience and building community.[SportsIllustrated]

  • Despite pressure put upon them to comply, year-round hockey is not in a young player's best interest. (Fourth of a five part series, links within)[NationalPost]

  • Poor Milan Lucic is no longer a Bruin, but finds himself a lightning rod in Montreal anyway.[MontrealGazette]

  • Catch up with former Bruin Matt Lindblad, who returned from a freak injury in time to play his old Providence teammates, who 'messed with him' during warmups.[SportzEdge]

  • Good news for Worcester- a lease has been inked for the DCU Center, heralding the likely arrival of an ECHL expansion team.[WorcesterTelegram&Gazette]
