The Weather!

Outdoor games don't happen without the weather cooperating. Here's what the NOAA had to say about the forecast:

Thursday A slight chance of rain before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.
New Year's Day Mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 27.

A Word from Bill:

Five Questions with Frank Vatrano:

Local boy Frank Vatrano is getting a lot of deserved attention. NHL.com sat down and asked him 5 questions. Here's my favorite quote:

What if he scores a goal in the Winter Classic?

"That would be awesome," Vatrano said.

Rink-Building Timelapse video

They have a webcam set up to watch the rink getting built at Gillette Stadium. Here's a timelapse of it being built from the end of the last Patriots' home game:

Pretty neat visual!

TV Coverage:

NHL Network, NBC Sports, NBC, and NESN will all have some amount of coverage of this big event. The NHL Network will show the habs and Bruins practices on the 31st:

  • 11:30 a.m. ET: NHL Network: Bruins Practice
  • 12:30 p.m. ET: NHL Network: Canadiens Practice

The Women's Outdoor Classic will not be televised or streamed because it's too complicated or whatever crappy excuse the NHL is using.

The Alumni game will be on NBC Sports:

  • 3:30pm: NBC Sports: NHL Hockey "2016 Winter Classic Alumni Game"
And of course the main event will be on NBC on New Year's day, likely at 1pm. Especially if the weather holds like it is forecasted.

Rink Center

The NHL Instagram account posted this today:

3 days: It all stems from the center. #WinterClassic

I guess they took it before the storm this morning?
