David Pastrnak has had a busy week at home.

  • David Pastrnak was honored as the best young Czech hockey player. In the senior division, Jakub Voracek took home the golden hockey stick, beating even Jaromir Jagr. (Google translation from Czech) [Hokej.Idnes.CZ] Apparently former winner David Krejci didn't even make the top ten this year. (Translated) [HNOnline]

  • In a brief interview, Pastrnak confides that he really wished to play at the IIHF Worlds after the Bruins season finished, especially since the Czech Republic hosted, but he understood why the Bruins assigned him to Providence. At least he caught some of the games while at home, and Jaromir Jagr invited him to join him in one of his famous 10PM workouts. (Google translation from Czech) [Sport.CZ]

  • Pastrnak spoke about having his hair cut for charity, and how it helped him get in more practice. He also reported that the fans helped him with his confidence, as the youngest player in the NHL. (Google translation) [SportovNinovuny]

  • As the Bruins approach the NHL draft, Patrnak was named by Don Sweeney as an unexpected surprise for being able to jump into the lineup. Sweeney does not anticipate the Bruins being quite so lucky a second time. [NHL]

  • Sweeney has been all ears entering his first NHL Draft as the Bruins General Manager, and will listen to offers. [SportingNews]

  • Sweeney spoke about being the GM, recognizing and developing young talent, and how he is tackling his new responsibilities. [WEEI]

  • The Edmonton press scoffs at Joe Haggerty's projection of Dougie Hamilton 's value, as they have found Haggerty's already published opinions of the value of Oilers players in potential Bruins trades to have been laughable. [EdmontonJournal]

  • This season, the Bruins played too many one-goal games, winning only on a fluke, and often found themselves outworked in the third period. The inability to protect a lead (when they even had one) was telling. [WEEI]

  • Hey, this guy has the answer to all the Boston pro sports teams' woes. As for the Bruins- "Trade Tuukka Rask ." This is not a joke. [SentinelAndEnterprise]

  • Seen at the scene... Dennis Seidenberg was on hand to support the "This Star Won’t Go Out" benefit at Alba Restaurant. [TheBostonGlobe]

Elsewhere around the rink:

  • Be Legendary. Here is the short list of four players (including a Bruin) that were the measuring sticks by which NHL players of their generations were defined. [EdmontonJournal]

  • Thirty Thoughts is chock-full of trade rumors around the league, including Milan Lucic and his future- Is he the "identity" of the Bruins going forward? Apparently Don Sweeney is not beyond considering offers... [Sportsnet]

  • Here's what we learned from the Stanley Cup Final. Things have changed, and the NHL is shifting to a speed game with flow in the action. That opens the doors for smaller, skilled players. [TheBostonGlobe]

  • USA Hockey has improved a great deal over the years, but it all started with abject failure. [TheHockeyNews]

  • Las Vegas, baby, the NHL is ready to roll the dice. [TheNewYorkTimes]

  • Okay, how to the Blackhawks get a pass when the Redskins are vilified? [TheAtlantic]

  • Here's your NHL Offseason primer just to keep you up to speed. [Grantland]

Joe Haggerty can kiss our ass
