When Ryan Fitzgerald was drafted, we said this about him:
Ryan Fitzgerald, a local kid from North Reading and son of former NHLer Tom Fitzgerald, is touted by some as "the smartest kid in the NHL draft this year." Although undersized, Fitzgerald makes up for his small stature with excellent hockey sense, patience, and poise.
That sounds pretty good to me. At Boston College over the two years since being drafted, he's done alright for himself, scoring 54 points over 78 games, for a pretty nice 0.69 points per game. That's 6th on the Eagles over the last 2 years, behind Johnny Gaudreau and his linemates. It doesn't seem like he's been an elite scorer at any point, but he has reasonably acquitted himself. He's expected to spend at least another year at BC. And why not? He's already scored a highlight-reel goal or two:
