Now we know the REST OF THE STORY

Well, there's one more reason for a bit of optimism this season.

  • Brad Marchand very successfully hid his elbow injury while leading the Bruins in scoring last season. Get well soon, eh?  [NHL]

  • David Pastrnak was glad to get home this summer, spending time quietly in Prague and then as the center of attention in Havirov, where the kids looking up to him were very close to his own age. [TheBostonGlobe]

  • So, Pasta , how will you surprise us this year? He insists that making the team is job #1.  [WEEI]

  • Motivation is what Dennis Seidenberg is taking from whispers about his being traded. [BostonHerald]

  • Rookie Camp will be time for young (except for Joonas Kemppainen ) Bruins to make their cases to join the show. There is a lot at stake. [SouthCoastToday]

  • The Rookie Camp roster has been released. Bonus: Andy Brickley talks about Ryan Spooner as the third line center.  [NESN]

  • Forty years ago... the NHL gave its blessing to the Jacobs family's purchase of the Bruins, putting to rest whispers of Delaware North's shady reputation.  [BuffaloNews]

  • Mr. Jacobs has passed muster with a finicky Manhattan co-op board, and will now be able to take tea with his new neighbors Uma Thurman and Henry Kissinger.  [Observer]

Elsewhere around the rink:

  • It would seem that most of the "Seven Wonders of the Hockey World" are former Bruins. [SportsIllustrated]

  • Tomas Vokoun was quietly one of the top goalies in the NHL. Remember him in the Penguins' net against the Bruins in the 2012-13 playoffs? Where's the love?  [InGoal]

  • Bryce Salvador calls it a career after struggling with the aftermath of concussions, and offers this reminiscence.  [PlayersTribune]

  • Road warrior Bobby Ryan flogged an RV from his off-season home to Ottawa, learning how to manage hookups (not THAT kind) and pausing to visit friends and practice with local teams en route.  [OttawaSun]

  • You can't do that. A judge's verdict is overturned based on an inappropriate use of speculation disguised as "hockey sense" in the decision.  [SportsIllustrated]

  • It isn't all roses, champagne, and Stanley Cups for the Blackhawks anymore. One fan searches his conscience in light of current events. [SecondCityHockey]

  • Seattle has moved another step ahead toward buiding an arena envisioned to house an NHL and an NBA team, although there is still no apparent hurry to complete it. [King5]
