The Basics:

When: 7 pm

Where: Nationwide Arena — Columbus, Ohio

Notes:

  • The Bruins open a season on the road for the first time since the 2008-2009 season (Prague in 2010-2011 excluded as they were technically the home team), a game in which they topped the Colorado Avalanche 5-4.
  • Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno recently made a $1 million donation that will be evenly split between Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus and Boston Children’s.
  • Patrice Bergeron, Adam McQuaid and Kevan Miller will not be active tomorrow night; McQuaid and Miller are on IR, and will miss, at minimum, the opening three games of the season.

Never Forget:

There aren’t a lot of notable Bruins-Blue Jackets moments, at least ones that have favored Boston. So, here’s a video of former Bruin and current Edmonton Oilers great Milan Lucic scoring an overtime goal against Ohio’s most prominent hockey team.
