Where is the game?: TD Garden - Boston, MA

When is it?: 7 PM

How can we watch it? NESN, NHL-N US, CBC, 98.5 The Sports Hub

Rival SBN site: Pension Plan Puppets

Team leaders:

  • James Van Riemsdyk 11-9-20
  • Mitch Marner 7-12-19
  • Auston Matthews 11-8-19

Game notes:

  • The Leafs have scoring in depth. As well as the three players above, Nazem Kadri sits on 18 points along with Tyler Bozak, and William Nylander sits on 16. This is a team that can find the net, folks.
  • The good news is, they're not awfully good at keeping the puck out of their own net. Fredrik Andersen has a GAA of 2.87, and their backup is...well, they're not actually sure who now after sending Jhonas Enroth to the Marlies. If only they had a goalie like Tuukka...oh, wait, they did. But they gave him up to the Bruins, because they thought Justin Pogge (JUSTIN POGGE!) was a better option. Thanks, Andrew Raycroft.
  • The Leafs are looking like Calder Central this season. With Mitch Marner and William Nylander having excellent seasons, they're a young, exciting team in the early stages of a rebuild that, so far, seems to be going according to plan. Slightly more experienced stars like Morgan Rielly, Nazem Kadri and Jake Gardiner mean that it's an exciting time to be a Leaf. Of course, there's that Matthews kid, too, though he's cooled off a little after a blistering start.
  • Powerplay woes will be a big thing to look at tonight - specifically whether the B's can fix them. With players like Matt Martin and Roman Polak around there is always a chance of an indiscretion to put B's on the PP-they will have to capitalise this evening.
  • Tonight’s game is one for the traditionalists. Original Six matchup, Saturday night, Hockey Night in's got all the ingredients that we're told are the "essence" of the NHL. Let's hope that it lives up to the billing.

You didn't think we were going to pick anything else, did you?

After all, it was four-one.
