The Bruins announced today that defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has been called up from Providence.
The 22 year old former Boston University Terrier and Charlestown native, whose dad works on the TD Garden Bull Gang, has played in 25 games for Providence this season, tallying one goal and 11 assists for 12 points. This is his first professional season.
It’s very likely that Grzelcyk has been called up due to a banged-up McQuaid; whatever the case, it’s cool to see another one of Boston’s native sons get the call for the hometown team.
He is eligible to play against Pittsburgh tonight.
