The Bruins announced during their game against the Buffalo Sabres that David Backes would be out indefinitely with a concussion.
Per GM Don Sweeney, Backes has been diagnosed w/ a concussion & will be out indefinitely as the team follows the NHL's concussion protocols.

He’s not the first Bruin to be out indefinitely with a concussion this season, as John-Michael Liles, who has been out since November 27th, recently practiced with the team for the first time. Backes, who has 9 goals and 10 assists on the season already, was plugging away in the top 6. He also missed 5 games earlier this season with the removal of the bursa sac in his elbow. We hope the concussion isn’t too severe and Backes is cleared to return soon.
