The Blue Jackets topped the Bruins at TD Garden last evening, spoiling the Bs' homecoming.

  • Paying customers at TD Garden must be as frustrated as the Bruins at this point.[PatriotLedger]

  • What was up with the game misconduct on Brad Marchand, anyway? And why no Ryan Spooner on either power play unit?[Hockeybuzz]

  • Marchand was left feeling a bit slighted after a couple of incidents (including a specific hit that slipped through NHL Player Safety without penalty.) John Tortorella was left asking if coaches' challenges simply waste a timeout. We wonder too, Torts.[TheBostonGlobe]

  • Loui Eriksson continued to shine, even as Matt Beleskey notably took a turn in Eriksson's usual spot on the power play.[TheBostonGlobe]

  • Aside from the benefits from Eriksson's body of work for the Bruins on ice, he is also ensuring that the team will be able to move on without him if need be.[WEEI]

  • Cover your head to avoid flying pucks launched by Marchand and review five salient points from the game.[WEEI]

  • One under-the-radar transaction between the Jackets and the Bruins in 2007 is still paying dividends.[PatriotLedger]

  • Checking in down in Providence, the PBruins' Frank Vatrano is scoring at a scorching pace, and Seth Griffith is at the top of the AHL in scoring.[ProvidenceJournal]

Elsewhere around the rink:

  • Elliotte Friedman sat for an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, and at one point offered his opinion on a professional team deliberately tanking for draft picks, and explained some of the mechanics of trade talk between teams and the league.[Reddit]

  • One UNH fan's struggle for an impromptu celly at the rink did not go quite as planned, and probably smelled really bad to boot. (With video)[PuckDaddy]

  • Is there a better fan of the Arizona Coyotes than their parking attendent, Lou?[SportsIllustrated]

  • The Panthers would LOVE to have Jaromir Jagr back next season, but are waiting to hear if he is also interested.[TheGlobeAndMail]

  • In the tradition of Shawn Hunwick and Tim Thomas, a new tiny goalie from Michigan seeks to break into the NHL. Jeff Lerg is making his case.[SportsIllustrated]

  • This is just the way things are going for the Montreal Canadiens and P.K. Subban anymore: An infant was inadvertently injured by a souvenir puck tossed into the stands.[NationalPost]

  • A PhD candidate in biomechanics has designed safer, smaller goalie pads that are easier to move in. He has skin in the game, as he is a beer league goalie, himself.[NationalPost]
