Bruins forward Zac Rinaldo has been assigned to Providence, according to the AHL transactions page.
Rinaldo, 25, had 1 goal and 3 points in 52 games with Boston. He lead the team in penalty minutes, 83, and suspensions -- one, with a second pending.
Rinaldo was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers last summer in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2017 draft. Other goons were available as free agents, but when you have a chance to put your mark on awful asset management, why pass up the chance?
Rinaldo's last AHL game came during the lockout shortened 2012-2013 season, where he appeared in 31 contests for the Adirondack Phantoms.
Providence's next game is Friday against Bridgeport at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Rhode Island's capital.
