The Hurricanes went home happy last night with an overtime win.

  • The Bruins took one point out of the game last night, gaining first place in the Atlantic Division... for now.[TheBostonGlobe]

  • Quick hits: Patrice Bergeron is turning to the dark side, having hit a new career high (low?) in penalty minutes.[WEEI]

  • The Bruins once again struggled at home with a team they should have handled with relative ease.[WEEI]

  • The game felt a bit like a letdown after the strong performaces against recent opponents. Bergeron was duped by Noah Hanafin in overtime.[Hockeybuzz]

  • Despite playing in Bergeron's Selke shadow, David Krejci is no defensive slouch, himself.[BostonHerald]

  • Loui Eriksson converted on a power play, Pastrnak caught Cam Ward cheating, and Tuukka Rask is so over 3-on-3 overtime (and who can blame him?)[BruinsDaily]

  • With any luck Kevan Miller will be available to play Saturday, and will continue the improvement he had been showing at the time of his injury. Bonus: John-Micheal Liles was able to call on his good name and a squeaky-clean reputation (along with evidence that Nikita Kucherov lowered his head) in avoiding supplemental discipline.[TheBostonGlobe]

  • His former Hurricane teammates had high praise for Liles as a teammate and mentor to younger players.[ProvidenceJournal]

  • Kirk Luedeke was the guest of Allan Mitchell (Lowetide) on Edmonton radio regarding David Pastrnak, Noel Acciari, and Ryan Spooner. (Audio, about 12 minutes, skip to 6:55 mark)[ScoutingPost]

Elsewhere around the rink:

  • Another outdoor game? Yawn. Another outdoor game at an unusual, spectacular venue? Count me IN![SBNation]

  • Now Malcolm Subban 's brother has dodged a serious neck injury after a serious collision with a teammate in last night's game.[NBCSports]

  • Your team coulda been a contender... if only they had followed Sean McIndoe's advice on a proper rebuild![Sportsnet]

  • Thirty Thoughts adresses a proposed raise in age for NHL draft (and a possible exception for goaltender prospects.) Will the NHLPA be on board?[Sportsnet]

  • Max Domi found a role model in Bobby Clarke... for more than just on-ice reasons.[BarDown]

  • Size matters. No one knows it better than (former Bruin) Kay Whitmore, the NHL goaltending supervisor who takes the measuring tape and makes surprise inspections of goalie equipment.[NationalPost]

  • To all who have made fun of "grit" in hockey, Paul Stewart would like a word with you.[Hockeybuzz]

  • This Sunday marks the Clarkson Cup final, it is a good time to note the remarkable emergence of the groundbreaking CWHL.[TheGlobeAndMail]
