After the Islanders scored half-way through the period, the Bruins were looking a bit shaky. Sloppy breakouts, turnovers to the Islanders forecheckers, and bad passing in the offensive zone nearly had Boston on the ropes. Zdeno Chara and David Krejci had a bad sequence of turnovers behind their own net, before Kyle Okposo and John Tavares connected for Tavares' 200th career NHL goal.
A great save by Tuukka Rask on John Tavares in the final minute kept the score 1-1, before David Krejci created time and space and feed David Pastrnak for the go-ahead goal. Pastrnak's goal was his 11th of the season, and his 3rd goal in his last 4 games. Loui Eriksson grabbed a secondary assist, giving him two points in this game.
The Bruins are currently 11-7-4 against Eastern Conference teams at home, and they have an .828 winning-percentage when leading after two (20th in the league). The Islanders meanwhile have a .167 winning-percentage when trailing after two (11th in the league).
