Over the last few weeks, support has grown louder and louder in favor of passing Massachusetts legislations SB 735 and HR 1577, which are bills that would update Massachusetts' existing civil rights law to provide non-discrimination protection for transgender individuals in Massachusetts public spaces - which includes sports stadiums. Many organizations have spoken out, typically in the form of a press release. All five major Boston sports teams, including the Bruins, have released statements, as we previously covered.
Today, the Bruins' Patrice Bergeron appeared in a video speaking about these bills, issuing the following statement:
"Our team believes that everyone should be treated equally, everywhere they go. Transgender people deserve the same rights as everyone else in our state - and everyone is welcome at a Bruins game."
