Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald dropped a pretty big bombshell last night after the Bruins' 2-1 loss to the Devils.
From Harris' article:
According to an extremely well-placed source within the Boston-area college hockey community, the forward will opt for free agency and sign with the B’s.
"The forward" in this case is Harvard's Jimmy Vesey, who has been the subject of much hand-wringing over his (reported) decision to pass on signing with Nashville and instead pursue free agency.
This would be a pretty huge get for the Bruins, as it was widely assumed that Vesey would sign with the Maple Leafs. However, Elliotte Friedman mentioned the possibility of Vesey joining the Bruins in yesterday's 30 Thoughts:
The Grzelcyk connection got a little stronger last night with the following report from the Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa:
Belief at BU is Matt Grzelcyk will sign with the Bruins.

EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING!
Of course, this all must be taken with a large, large grain of salt. These are just rumors, after all, and nothing concrete can happen with Vesey until mid-August (unless he reverses course and decides to sign with Nashville).
However, Harris is a seasoned reporter who likely wouldn't put something like this out there if there wasn't some serious smoke behind it.
Vesey, a native of North Reading, had 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) in 33 games as a Harvard senior this season.
