  • Our chums at Days of Y’Orr have returned to the fray with a podcast called "Optional Skate." This edition features Kirk Luedeke speaking about Bruins goalie prospects, last year’s draft picks, and Alex Khokhlachev... oh my! (Audio, 1:01:05) Scouting Post
  • In addition to the Bruins’ own pick, the Sharks’ loss in the Stanley Cup Final grants the Bruins the compensatory #29 pick in the upcoming NHL draft. Causeway Crowd

Elsewhere around the rink:

  • The AHL Lake Erie Monsters have won the Calder Cup, bright news for their parent club, the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Hockey News
  • Harvard’s Bill Keenan never did quite make it to the NHL, but his autobiography "Odd Man Rush" makes him look a bit like like the Forrest Gump of hockey. Bonus: A trend toward hulking goalies shortchanges talented youngsters that are at or below the six-foot mark, and what a bid for Milan Lucic may cost the Oilers. The Boston Globe
  • Forever Bruin Marc Savard’s contract has been moved again, this time to the New Jersey Devils. Causeway Crowd
  • The late Gordie Howe impressed other hockey players in a number of ways, even though some were too young to have actually played against him. The Player’s Tribune
  • Garth Brooks remembered Howe at a recent concert by wearing his sweater onstage and sponsoring a youth hockey clinic for local children in Saskatoon. Bar Down
