Corinne Buie signs with Buffalo Beauts

Best of luck with the Beauts, Corinne!

The NWHL announced on Tuesday that forward Corinne Buie has chosen to sign with the Buffalo Beauts for the 2016-2017 season. Buie and the Beauts agreed to a $13,000 contract, an increase from the $12,000 she made with the Boston Pride. Buie is only the third player to sign with a team other than the one they played for during the league's inaugural season.

Last season for the Pride, Buie scored 7 points (3-4) and played in all 18 regular season games as well as each of the Pride's four playoff games.  With the signing, Buffalo have now filled 11 of their 17 available roster spots, the same as the Connecticut Whale, while the New York Riveters have 15 committed players.

Meanwhile, the Pride have only seven players on their roster with five days remaining until the end of free agency on July 31. Those seven players are forwards Lexi Bender, Jillian Dempsey, and Jordan Smelker, defenders Blake Bolden and Alyssa Gagliardi, and goalkeepers Brittany Ott and Lauren Slebodnick.

Obviously there are some very important names missing from that list, including Kacey Bellamy, Brianna Decker, Hilary Knight and Gigi Marvin, just to name a few. Fasten your seat belts, folks - Free Agent Frenzy is coming.
