Hickel, Marvin, Pelkey will re-sign with Boston

Don't get too excited — nothing is actually official...yet.

NWHL

Boston Pride general manager Hayley Moore announced that forwards Zoe Hickel and Amanda Pelkey and defender Gigi Marvin all intend to rejoin the Pride for the 2016-2017 NWHL season.

To say that they have agreed to terms, however, is not exactly correct. On Sunday night, every member of the US Women's National Hockey Team Tweeted an identical statement: "We look forward to signing our contracts this week and helping advance the league to new heights in our second season."

Team unity is important, but this is a little ridiculous, don't you think?

This means that pens have not been put to paper by anyone just yet, including Knight and Carpenter, but the players have committed to sign in the near future. So, as we all remember from last year, the free agency deadline is really just a formality.

Hickel's contract will be for $16,000, Pelkey's for $17,000, and Marvin's for $20,000. All are one-year agreements.

"Amanda is a dynamic player who learned great patience last season, which has made her speed and skill even more deadly to her opponents," said Moore in the press release. "And Zoe battled back from injury that gave her a new level of mental toughness and has elevated her game. These two will add another level of depth to our offensive lineup we are very excited to put together."

"Gigi came up big in some crucial moments in our quest for the Isobel Cup," the general manager said. "She is strong, poised, and quietly dangerous on the blue line. Her passion is felt by her teammates and is truly contagious. She will continue to deepen our defensive unit and adds leadership to this group."

Assuming that all these contracts are completed, the Pride roster stands at 14 of 17 players, with final additions likely coming late tonight or early in the week.

At least they make it exciting, right?
