Christian Ehrhoff is coming to the Boston Bruins on a PTO!

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE GERMAN DEFENSE ON THE BRUINS

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Today Uncle Bob brought us a nice treat:

YES. YES. YEEEEES. THIS WOULD BE THE STEAL OF A LIFETIME IF IT WORKS OUT.

For those unawares, I have been long for Christian Ehrhoff becoming a Boston Bruin. He has played exceptionally even for his advanced age. His fancystats are also quite nice for a player of his age and his placement.

I know you're thinking: That doesn't seem great at all, what's the deal?

Here's the thing. McQuaid and Kevan (to a lesser extent but still Kevan) desperately need a partner who can clear the zone and create chances. They cannot do that themselves. Ehrhoff can do that MARVELOUSLY. He is the answer to who can be in the defense pairing's depths from the #3 spot to the #6 spot. That is versatility.

I for one am genuinely excited that this player that has eluded Boston for so long. Who knows? He was fantastic a year before, maybe we can find a way for him to bounce back....

Of course, Ehrhoff will have to prove himself on this PTO. There are plenty of prospects, and one could make the arguement that his down year would mean they're keeping him for a temporary stay. One could also make the arguement that while all these prospects are fine and dandy, they still may need a season. A season that could be burned by a veteran who still shows promise in a depth role.

I for one am ecstatic he's here, and I hope he gets signed.

Welcome to Boston, Christian!
