Bruins vs. Blues 1/10/17 PREVIEW: The journey of many points begins with but a single game

New, comments

The Bruins play twice in one week while Ottawa and Toronto play at the end of it. The chance to widen the gap between them is now.

NHL: St. Louis Blues at Boston Bruins Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Game Notes:

The Time: 8pm

The Place: Scottrade Center, St.Louis, Missouri

The Place to Watch: NESN, NBCSN, Sportsnet, TVAS

The Place to Listen: 98.5 The Sports Hub, KMOX in St. Louis.

The Stakes: Two points that puts distance between Ottawa and Toronto. St. Louis meanwhile has four points on the nearest central division team and 3rd in division locked up. Two points just inches them closer to Minnesota.

Game Notes:

  • Today is the beginning of a potential four point lead Boston could have over Ottawa and Toronto. If ever there was a time for a strong performance...
  • St. Louis is 5-4-1 in their last 10. Solid in theory, shaky in practice. Their last game was a barnburner win over Dallas 4-3.
  • St. Louis only has Carl Gunnarson on the mend. Everyone else is healthy.
  • David Pastrnak while not scoring has still been picking up assists. Currently has two in his last three games.
  • Both Jake Allen and Carter Hutton have not had strong performances as of late, with their GAA’s going waaay up to almost three goals a game and their SV% hovering way under league average at .904 and .890.
  • The Blues won the previous game over Boston by a score of 4-2. This will be the last time we will see them this year not facing the blackhawks late at night, so get a good look at ‘em.

Oh, you know. That game.
