Is Brandon Carlo really getting traded?

New, comments

The 19-year-old was previously off limits in trade talks but some new details have emerged...

Rumors have flown around the NHL the last few weeks of Gabriel Landeskog being on the market, and the Bruins have been connected pretty closely. First, it was said that young defenseman Brandon Carlo was off limits, not only in a trade for Landeskog, but for Winnipeg’s Jacob Trouba as well. According to the same source, now things might be different.

While the Bruins have been on and off just about the whole season, getting rid of Carlo would be a really detrimental move to the team. Sure, the organization has players like Charlie McAvoy, Rob O’Gara, Matt Grzelcyk and more waiting in the wings and the offense has been sputtering as inconsistently as the whole team, but the Bruins have such a glut of forwards. It’s also worth mentioning that David Pastrnak and Ryan Spooner both have deals headed their way soon, and taking on Landeskog’s enormous $5,571,429 cap hit for possibly four seasons, three of them with a modified no trade clause means both could be out of here if they’re not spent on. Spooner’s name has been linked in other trades, but Pastrnak is a rising star in the NHL and Sweeney would be foolish not to lock him up over grabbing Landeskog.
