Bruins vs. Panthers 1/7/17 PREVIEW: Second in the Atlantic is waiting for you, Boston. You just have to take it.

An atlantic dogfight for points. Can Boston FINALLY turn it around vs. a team that stubbornly refuses to go away?

Just the facts:

The Time: 7pm EST

The Place: BB&T Center, Sunrise, Florida

The Place to watch: NESN, Fox Sports-Florida

The Place to Listen: 98.5 The Sports Hub, 560 WQAM Sports Radio

The Stakes: Two points potentially puts Boston in of 2nd(!) in the Atlantic Division. Said two points also puts Florida tied with Tampa Bay AND Boston if they lose. They ALSO keep Toronto off of Boston’s back, at least if Montreal does what it should and beats Toronto tonight.

Game Notes:

  • Florida is on a back-to-back in their home barn. They just played Nashville last night with a result of a 2-1 win.
  • Florida is 4-3-4 in their last 11 games. A perfectly aggravating result if you want them to succeed and equally as aggravating if you want them to fail.
  • Your possession leaders from last game are Tim Schaller, Austin Czarnik, Torey Krug, Jimmy Hayes, and Brad Marchand. Side note: There were only three players under 50% in CF% last game.
  • As a play off of that previous note, Boston needs to take otherwise dominant performances in terms of shots on goal and overall time of having the puck and turn them into goals and keeping them away from and out of Tuukka Rask or Zane McIntyre’s net.
  • Colin Miller had a 69% CF% last game. I can confirm from being there live that while a lot of bruins both over performed and under performed, his performance stood out as nice.
  • Unfortunately no milestones for Jagr to make any fun quotes on.
  • Isn’t it great when a team can lose two straight and still be easily capable of taking 2nd in division?
  • Also, isn’t it agonizing when a team can lose two straight and still be easily capable of taking 2nd in division?

NEVER FORGET:

Zdeno Chara got his insane spin-o-rama goal here in Sunrise to a crowd of hundreds!
