As hoped, the Bruins youngsters stepped up when called upon, despite a few hiccups.

A late surge didn’t spoil opening night for the Bruins , who dropped the Pedators 4-3.

  • It is funny to hear David Pastrnak refer to “those young guys.” It looks like they have integrated into a swift, skilled team. WEEI

  • The win came at a cost- Noel Acciari was injured during a penalty kill. WEEI
  • Backes will be out for a while, apparently it was not simply the flu that felled him. Apparently, the prognosis is better for Austin Czarnik and Bergeron. Bonus- Ryan Spooner‘s performance at the faceoff dot was much improved. Boston Herald
  • The speed of the game played to the strengths of the Bruins youngsters, who didn’t wilt in the absence of their senior teammates. Bruins Daily

  • Pastrnak was awfully happy to rejoin his teammates once his contract was finalized,. and Riley Nash took Paul Postma on a walking tour of Cambridge in the second episode of this season’s “Behind the B.” (Video, 21:38) Bruins NHL
