Recap: Bruins knock off Kings

A lot to like in the win: Dobby playing well, the top two lines playing a strong game.

NHL: Boston Bruins at Los Angeles Kings Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

After a tough loss in Anaheim the night before, the B’s didn’t need to live with the L for too long. Great performance in LA Thursday night/Friday morning.

First Period

Brad Marchand comes in a 2-on-1 with Patrice Bergeron, fakes the pass across, snipes his shot past Peter Budaj, 1-0 Bruins. Marchand’s team-leading 26th goal of the season.

Tough goal to give up on the penalty kill for the Bruins. Carlo had a chance to clear the puck but didn’t, Kings capitalize and Kevin Gravel gets his first NHL goal. 1-1 game.

Almost. Almost. Peter Cehlarik could have had his first NHL goal, but a well-timed Kings challenge leads to it being taken away. Pastrnak was well offside, the puck coming out of the zone before Krejci brings it back in. Oh well.

Second Period

Hearing Marchand took the team lead in scoring, Pastrnak said, “We’ll share it!” He gets his 26th of the season on the power play, snapping his stick on the one-time chance, creating a knuckle puck that floated through Budaj. 2-1 Bruins.

Anton Khudobin’s performance has to be one of the biggest stories of the night. A 27 save performance by Dobby, making highlight-reel stops left and right, keeping the Bruins in it when it felt like the Kings had a ton of momentum.

Third Period

Ballgame. What a play by Moore to take the hit, get past the red line, and hit the empty cage. 3-1 Bruins.

Krejci added another empty netter, sealing a 4-1 Bruins victory.

Next up, the team travels to Dallas for a 12:30 start time against the Stars on Sunday afternoon.
