Per the Globe’s Kevin Paul DuPont, Colin Miller will face no additional discipline from the League:
Per league source: NHL DOPS will take no action on C. Miller hit on Burmistrov.— Kevin Paul Dupont (@GlobeKPD) March 1, 2017
While the hit drew serious in-game punishment in a charging major and game misconduct, it seems the League saw the hit for what it was - unintentionally injury-causing, and otherwise a clean hit.
Cassidy says he believes GM Sweeney has looked into league rescinding C. Miller's game misconduct for hit on Burmistrov.— Kevin Paul Dupont (@GlobeKPD) March 1, 2017
This move would reduce the risk of future supplemental discipline on Chiller, protecting his reputation somewhat. Good on the coach/GM for trying to protect one of their better younger players.
