Another day, another signing of a Sweeney pick.
(Sorry that it’s not Anders Bjork.)
From the team:
#NHLBruins sign forward Joona Koppanen to a 3-year entry-level contract, beginning with the 2017-18 season: https://t.co/wcMX5C2N1Z
— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) April 13, 2017
Koppanen was better than a point-per-game player with the U20 Ilves team in Finland’s top junior league.
There was a report going around earlier this year that Koppanen had been named the best U20 player in the league, but we weren’t able to find confirmation of that; Finnish websites are confusing, man.
Koppanen’s full season line, which was made up of 38 regular season games and six playoff games was 25G-35A-60PTS in 44 games, good for 1.36 PPG.
NOT BAD.
With the contract not kicking in until this coming year, don’t expect to see Koppanen any time soon. He’ll probably make his first appearance at the camps this summer.
Welcome aboard, kid!
