Bruins Prospects: Three Stars of the Year

First Star (54 points)

Zach Senyshyn - SSM (OHL)

This Year: 70 games played - 46 goals - 24 assists - 307 shots

Senyshyn was unquestionably the top prospect in the Three Stars system with the most appearances (14) and most First Star honors (8) over the past 25 weeks. In fact, he was named First Star more than twice as much as the next-best prospect (Bjork, with 3). Senyshyn’s 2016-2017 numbers represented a small improvement over his 2015-2016 numbers but he was 8th in the OHL in goals scored and the 2015 first round pick should be competing for a roster spot in Boston next year.

Second Star (38 points)

Jesse Gabrielle - Prince George (WHL)

This Year: 67 games played - 36 goals - 31 assists

Gabrielle tied Senyshyn for the most appearances throughout the year and appropriately enough was named Second Star more often (8) than any other prospect. After a breakout 2015-2016 season, there was hope that he would take the next step in his progression and could turn into a steal as a 4th round pick. Unfortunately, Gabrielle was not able to significantly elevate his performance this year, though he missed a chunk of time, but his play was praiseworthy never the less. Here’s hoping it will carry over at the pro level.

Third Star (22 points)

Jack Becker - Sioux Falls (USHL)

This Week: 49 games played - 16 goals - 12 assists - 129 shots

Becker earned Third Star of the Year despite never achieving the distinction during the season and only making 6 appearances overall (tip of the cap to Ryan Donato, who had the third most appearances with 9 and the most Third Star honors with 5). Becker posted sizable improvements to his numbers across the board and looks to be ready to make an impact at the college level in the fall as a 20 year old.
