So Brad Marchand got himself a 5 minute major for spearing Jake Dotchin in tonight’s Tampa Bay Lightning game and, with it, an automatic Game Misconduct.

He’s probably getting the play looked at by the Department of Player Safety, too. He’s had...a couple...run ins with them recently:

So anyways, the important question is how much time do we miss Brad Marchand for?
This is an interesting question. On the one hand, you never do know with the NHL. Maybe they think “time served” is enough. I kinda doubt it, though. To me, the most likely outcome is a 2 game suspension. He misses the rest of the regular season but the Bruins have him for the playoffs (assuming they make it). If the Bruins miss out, he still is around for the season opener.
If the League wants to act TOUGH on Brad, though, they’re going to have to do more. In all likelihood, the Bruins will not finish with home ice advantage in the playoffs. If so, the league has a chance to suspend him for one or two games and not keep him out of home games. This would be a nice safe way to do TOUGH ON BRAD.
So, what do you think?
