There are more: Hayes (BOS), Stuart (WIN), Cammalleri (NJ)

Hayes came as a big part of the Reilly Smith trade, and people hoped he could be the big bodied point producer that might help replace part of losing Milan Lucic. After disappointing numbers in 2015-16, 29 points in 75 games, it was hoped he might turn it around for last season. It didn’t happen in the slightest. In 58 games, he tallied 5 points. According to CapFriendly, here is how the buyout of Jimmy Hayes will affect the Bruins cap situation.

It’s a decent amount to put towards someone who could be a one year rental or someone to be signed when free agency opens tomorrow. Is buying out Jimmy Hayes the right move?
