Brad Marchand suspended for five games

A ruling has come down from the Department of Player Safety on his elbow to Marcus Johansson.

NHL: New Jersey Devils at Boston Bruins Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

George Parros and the Department of Player Safety has issued Brad Marchand a five game suspension for his elbow to New Jersey’s Marcus Johansson while falling at the net-front in last night’s game.

While this writer was expecting some form of discipline, I certainly wasn’t expecting five games. His previous history comes into consideration for sure, with multiple suspensions and fines being levied over his career. He is expected to participate in the All Star Game this weekend, so the suspensions will carry out in games at Ottawa, versus Anaheim, versus St. Louis, versus Toronto, and at Detroit. What do you think of the suspension?
