WATCH: Brandon Carlo Makes Timely Goal-line Saves

With the game on the line, Carlo saves the day.

In Tuesday night’s victory over the Ottawa Senators, Brandon Carlo really shined. Carlo bailed out Tuukka Rask like what, two times? He stepped up big last night and that’s what we like to see from a young defender.

Here’s the first goal line save, Carlo swats the puck away after it slips through the arm of Rask.

Impressive awareness there from Carlo, showing off his strength too by out-mustling Colin White. We then see Rask come way too far out of his net, trying to be aggressive. The Bruins were lucky the Senators didn’t score on this mistake in goal. Carlo was there to save the day once again.

The young defenseman has played the best hockey of his career over the past few games, showing his value to the Bruins defense and stepping up in the absences of Torey Krug, Kevan Miller, and Charlie McAvoy.

We’ve seen a much better Carlo this season thus far. He’s flourishing defensively and that’s his strong suit. He may not score much or record many points but he’s the type of guy you want on the ice when you’re up by a goal and need to close out the game.

Carlo has been very calm and poised this season and I can’t wait to see how he does throughout the rest of the year. When Zdeno Chara retires, Carlo is going to be the Bruins main shut down guy so it’s key that he continues to learn and play well in the defensive zone.
