It's the news we were all fearing: the Bruins announced today that Patrice Bergeron will be out long term.
From the team:
"Patrice Bergeron sustained a rib and sternoclavicular injury during the second period of the Bruins vs. Stars game on November 16 in Dallas."
Noooooooooooooooo!!!!
Per Wikipedia:
"The sternoclavicular joint or sternoclavicular articulation is the joint between the manubrium of the sternum and the clavicle bone. It is structurally classed as a synovial saddle joint and functionally classed as a diarthrosis and multiaxial joint."
This makes it sound like it was, in fact, in the shoulder-ish area.
Not ideal.
The Bruins recalled Colby Cave from Providence as well, filling Bergeron's roster spot.
