Game notes
- The Ducks, as a team, are a bit off an offensive oddity. Ryan Getzlaf remains productive, leading the team with 29 points, but it’s odd to see a team’s second-leading scorer with only 20 points near the end of December. However, the Ducks have a bunch of guys in that middle part of the productivity line: 7 skaters have between 15 and 20 points.
- The Ducks last played in New York on Tuesday, losing to the Rangers, 3-1. The game was notable for an old buddy: “Hi, I’m” Chad Johnson played in net for the Ducks. Johnson was claimed off of waivers earlier this week after Ryan Miller suffered a knee injury.
- Since Johnson played Tuesday, it’s pretty safe to assume Anaheim’s #1 goalie, John Gibson, will get the start tonight.
- We’ll know more after practice, but I wouldn’t expect a ton of lineup changes for the Bruins tonight. Patrice Bergeron looks like he’s still targeting a weekend return. Zdeno Chara isn’t ready. Jake DeBrusk is still out with a concussion.
- The only real question mark is probably going to be between the pipes. Bruce Cassidy could continue to rotate his goalies, but considering Jaroslav Halak pitched a shutout on Monday night, it might make sense to go back to him.
- The Ducks went back to their Disney-era throwbacks. Why don’t the Bruins go back to Pooh? DO YOU HEAR ME, NHL? HELLO?
