NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston Bruins Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The game did not start well for the Bruins. 13 seconds into the first frame, Charlie McAvoy sent the Maple Leafs to the powerplay.

That didn’t matter as halfway through the first, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson got the Bruins on the board first with a 4 on 4 goal.

Legendary goal scorer, David Backes, notched a powerplay goal to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Bruins in the second period.

Things got weird after that. Nazem Kardi took on all 6 foot 5 inches of Brandon Carlo. TD Garden seemed to like that.

Before the end of the period, Torey Krug added another goal to the Bruins’ total, bringing them to three.

Danton Heinen added insult to injury making it 4-0 in the third.

Travis Dermott scored for the Leafs to make it the familiar 4-1.

David Pastrnak quickly answered by setting up David Krejci for a goal. That made it 5-1.

Then Ryan Donato made it 6-1.

Matthews chopped back to make it 6-2.

Then things got ugly.

Then Andreas Johnsson made it even closer.

Johnsson’s goal was too little too late. 6-3 final.
