Updated: Bruins Recall Matt Grzelcyk from Providence

It was a paper transaction as reported previously.

Per the Boston Globe’s Fluto Shinzawa, the Boston Bruins have assigned defenseman Matt Grzelcyk to the Providence Bruins.

While there hasn’t been any reasoning provided, it is likely that the move is a paper move to ensure Matt Grzelcyk can play in the AHL playoffs, if needed. Per the CBA, a player has to be on the AHL roster prior to 3PM on deadline day to be able to play in the AHL playoffs.

More to come, as information is provided.

As mentioned above, this move ensured Grzelcyk can play in AHL playoffs if Bruins are eliminated earlier than expected.
