First Period:
Charlie McAvoy is back in, Kevan Miller and Noel Acciari are both out. Austin Czarnik was called up on emergency recall. Tonight marked Captain Zdeno Chara’s 1400th NHL game. Pretty incredible.
From the drop, the Bruins came to play, laying hits and getting looks until Patrice Bergeron scored his 22nd of the year from the slot around the 16 minute marker. The sole assist went to Danton Heinen.

Shortly afterwards, Brandon Carlo took an interference penalty whcih proved costly as Mitch Marner’s shot from the blue line deflected off of McAvoy’s stick or skate and went in. Tie game.

That was all the excitement from the 1st. SOG were 13-7 in Boston’s favor.
Second Period:
The two teams were pretty evenly matched to start the second, Pasta got called for a questionable interference penalty which lead to sustained pressure from the Leafs. Tuukka Rask absolutely stoned the Leafs on two straight shots. Reilly took a penalty a minute into Pasta’s, which the Bruins killed off. Bergeron hit a post and the Garden really got loud. The Bruins had some chances on the shortened power play but ultimately couldn’t score. The scoreboard may look even, but the Bruins have absolutely dominated possession and chances thus far.
David “Noodles” Pastrnak scored off the rush to make it 2-1 at 9:22, extending his points streak to 8 games (4g, 6a).

The Bruins go to the power play again on a Hainsey interference penalty and quickly score on an absolute cannon from Krug. Assists to call

Call up Austin Czarnik and David Krejci get the assists. That’s it for the second period.
Third Period:
The pace wasn’t quite as frenetic as the previous two periods to start, but the Bruins still looked strong, finishing plays and maintaining possession. Adam McQuaid blocked a shot and appeared to be hurt.
Halfway through the third, David Backes was called for a hit on Travis Dermott.

The Bruins killed Backes penalty, play goes on until the Bruins score an empty netter to make it 4-1. Schaller gets the goal, with the assist to Tuukka Rask. The score stands and the Bruins end their 6 game losing streak. SOG end up 3-24 in the Bruins favor. A total team effort by the Bruins.
