The Bruins and Red Wings just kept pouring on goals last night. It came down to needing a hero to close out in overtime. Next up? Thursday brings the Flyers at 7:00 PM on NESN.

  • It was pretty entertaining, if not elegant. Another opposing goalie was chased, and Brad Marchand scored another overtime game winner. Patriot Ledger

  • Marchand’s clutch play demonstrated that he can carry his team on his back when necessary, as he did against the Canadiens this past weekend. His toeing the line continues to be a work in progress. WEEI
  • The game opened with goals by Torey Krug and Jake DeBrusk in the first minute. TWO Boston two-goal leads ultimately evaporated in a back-and-forth free-for-all. Boston Globe

  • Charlie McAvoy will be recuperating for about a month from what has now been diagnosed as an MCL sprain, and he will have the mentorship of Patrice Bergeron to guide him. Boston Herald
  • The Bruins will juggle to cover McAvoy’s absence, but buried deeper in this piece is a hint that there may be an AHL call up to backup Anton Khudobin. NHL
  • On a related note, the AHL call-ups keep coming from the Gladiators, now Daniel Vladar is on his way to Providence. Interestingly, the Gladiators also acquired another goaltender. Gwinnett Daily Post
  • Marchand was named First Star of the night, joining Nick Bjugstad and Patrik Laine as the league’s trio of hat trick artists. (Video, 0:31) NHL

  • 2-2-3. Boston hovers five points over the Maple Leafs (who have lost their last two games) and six behind the Lightning . NHL
