The Providence Bruins have the opportunity to clinch a playoff spot on Friday when they take on the Hartford Wolfpack on home ice. If the Baby B’s win in regulation AND the Bridgeport Sound Tigers lose in regulation, then they will punch their ticket to the 2018 Calder Cup Playoffs.
The P-Bruins hold a record of 5-4-0-0 against the Wolfpack this season and look to get another win over a team who will not make the playoffs.
The P-Bruins sit in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the LeHigh Valley Phantoms and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. The Phantoms own the division with 97 points and the second place Penguins sit just one point ahead of the Bruins with 88 points.
The P-Bruins are 41-24-3-2 and have 87 points. If they clinch on Friday against the Wolfpack, it’ll be the sixth straight season in which they clinch a playoff berth. The Bruins won the Calder Cup back in 1998-99 after defeating the Rochester Americans four games to one. They have not made an appearance in the finals since then.
