Rene Rancourt is as much a part of the Garden as overpriced beer and long lines trying to shuffle down the escalator.
After serenading crowds at both the Boston Garden and TD Garden for more than four decades, Rene is hanging up his pipes.
Prior to tonight’s game, NESN aired a nice segment on Mr. Fist Pump himself.
From Chris (@CrzyCanucklehed):
After that, Rene sang the anthem from an unusual vantage point and was honored by dropping the ceremonial first puck.
Again from Chris:
A nice honor for a Boston legend.
It’s unclear if Rene will be singing in the playoffs, but it’s probably a safe assumption that he will. The Bruinsprobably just had this planned since the off-season and wanted to get it done when they knew what they were dealing with schedule-wise.
Best of luck in retirement, Rene.
