Know Your Enemy:

  • The Caps begin their title defense in Boston... sort of. Their roster for today’s game contains no more than three names I recognize.
  • While their game-day roster may not feature many new faces, there will be one behind the bench. Todd Reirden has taken over for Barry Trotz and has new assistant coaches on his wings.
  • Though few spots are expected to be offered to training camp participants, one potential call-up has looked impressive to our colleagues at Japer’s Rink. 23-year-old defenseman Tyler Lewington looked promising while matching up against Devante Smith-Pelly.

Game Notes:

  • With Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak in China for games, we’ll get a good look at the net depth in Boston’s pipeline. Zane McIntyre is mostly a known commodity now, so we should hope for progress from Dan Vladar and Kyle Keyser.
  • Follow us on Twitter or watch for announcements from the team on how you can help those affected by the gas explosions and fires. The Bruins will be matching donations at the entrance and at the Foundation table from today’s game to go towards assisting those who need it.
