The Bruins made a minor roster move today, sending forward Peter Cehlarik down to Providence.
Lest you think (like I did at first because I’m dumb) this is a crazy move, it’s just so he can get some ice time during the bye week. Unlike the rest of NHL squad, Cehlarik just arrived, so his need for a break may be less than the others.
Also, Cehlarik still isn’t required to pass through waivers yet, so the only risk involved is if he gets hurt playing for the P-Bruins.
The Bruins don’t play again until the 29th. In that time, the Providence Bruins will play 3 times: tomorrow afternoon vs. Hartford, Friday vs. Charlotte and Saturday vs. Springfield.
It’ll give Cehlarik a chance to stay fresh during the break, and to continue on a what is a nice little run of 2G-1A-3PTS in 3 games.
