Joakim Nordstrom broke his leg during the Winter Classic

New year, same injury bug.

Some surprising news from the Bruins this morning: forward Joakim Nordstrom apparently suffered a broken leg during the Winter Classic.

Per the team, Nordstrom has a "non-displaced fibula fracture" and will be reevaluated in three weeks.

It's unclear which leg is injured or when he was injured, as all the team said was "during" the game.

Do you remember him getting slashed or blocking a shot? Those are the two most likely scenarios.

Regardless, Nordstrom skated 9 shifts in the third period and was on the ice for the end of the game, so he was likely playing at least some of the Winter Classic on a broken leg.

In any case, it'll be interesting to see if the Bruins recall anyone to fill his spot, or if they roll Ryan Donato back out there and call it a day.
